Amit Paley

He was an Associate Partner at McKinsey & Company, where his clients included Fortune 500 companies, governments, and non-profit organizations. Amit Paley served as a leader in the firm’s health care and social sector practices with functional expertise in digital transformation across multiple sectors. He was also a leader of its LGBTQ group, where he oversaw McKinsey’s efforts on inclusion for transgender and nonbinary people, and advised clients on diversity, equity, and inclusion strategy and practices.
Amit is Entrepreneur in Residence at the International Rescue Committee, one of the leading humanitarian and development organizations in the world, founded by Albert Einstein in 1933. Previously, Amit Paley was the CEO of The Trevor Project, the world’s largest suicide prevention and mental health organization for LGBTQ young people. Under his leadership, The Trevor Project set an ambitious vision and strategy to serve exponentially more LGBTQ young people around the world. The organization during his tenure created a cutting-edge research department, developed innovative technology tools leveraging AI and machine learning that were recognized as one of TIME magazine’s top 100 inventions of the year, and launched a global expansion strategy, motivated by the deep conviction that all LGBTQ young people deserve to be loved and supported, regardless of what country they live in.
Earlier in his career, Amit Paley worked in the corporate strategy office of The Washington Post Company and as a journalist at The Washington Post. He served as foreign correspondent based in Iraq, where his work was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize, a financial investigative journalist, the national education reporter, and several other beats. He graduated magna cum laude from Harvard College, where he was president of The Harvard Crimson. Amit Paley earned an MBA at Columbia Business School, serving as Honor Board Chair and receiving the prestigious Knight-Bagehot Fellowship.
In addition to his working supporting high-performing organizations, Amit Paley is a sought-after speaker on innovation, entrepreneurship, high performance in the social sector, mental health, young people, and LGBTQ issues. His writing and impact have been featured in The New York Times, USA Today, ABC, NBC, CBS, NPR, CNN, Fortune, and various other media outlets. Amit Paley has served on the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline Steering Committee, the Executive Committee of the National Action Alliance for Suicide Prevention and the Board of the Center for Public Integrity. As Chair of the Graduate Council of The Harvard Crimson, Paley has overseen the organization’s financial aid program for over a decade. Amit Paley also taught as an adjunct professor at City University of New York and is a World Economic Forum Young Global Leader and GLG Social Impact Fellow. Amit has been included in the 40 Under 40 lists for Fortune and Crain’s, OUT Magazine’s OUT100, NBC’s #Pride 50, and the Logo 30.
